A typo in the license plate is annoying, as the E-vignette is only valid for your journey if it has been registered for the exact correct license plate. Therefore, please ensure before your trip that you have registered your E-vignette for the correct license plate.
Whether you can change the registered license plate of the E-vignette if you made a typo depends on the toll laws and conditions of the individual countries. Below we provide you with a guide and overview:
Czech Republic
During the validity period, you have one-time the option to request the change of up to two characters of your license plate as well as the change of the country of vehicle registration at the Czech motorway operator.
For this, you need the so-called authorization code of the vignette. You can find the authorization code in the PDF version of the vignette that we sent to you via email after your order ("registration confirmation").
For foreign vehicles registered outside the Czech Republic, proofs (e.g., vehicle registration document) may need to be submitted for the change. The application will be reviewed by the motorway operator and may take several days. vintrica cannot expedite this process. Plan enough time for the change request, as the change is only effective upon approval by the motorway operator.
Here you can apply for the change: https://edalnice.cz/en/manage-your-purchased-vignettes/index.html#/charge_management
If you need to change more than 2 characters or if there is not enough time left to wait for the result of the change request, the only option is to let the incorrect vignette expire and to order a new vignette with the correct license plate.
Hungary
In case of an incorrectly specified license plate or nationality sign with a deviation of a maximum of 3 characters, you have the option to submit a request for correction of the vignette within 60 days from the start of validity of the vignette at an office of the customer service of the National Toll Payment Services Private Limited Company in Hungary. For the procedure, you will need the vehicle registration document, the confirmation of the purchase of the vignette, and your identity card/passport. The fee for changing the vignette is 1,470 HUF (as of 01/2025). If you confused the 0 (zero, the number) and the O (o, the letter), no fee will be charged.
Alternatively, you can let the incorrect E-vignette expire and register a new E-vignette with the correct license plate.
Slovenia
The toll conditions of the motorway operator in Slovenia do not allow for a subsequent change of the registered license plate of the E-vignette. Therefore, the only option is to let the incorrect vignette expire and register a new E-vignette with the correct license plate.
