If you change the licence plate of your vehicle (e.g. due to moving, loss or theft), you can transfer your vignette to the new licence plate.
Attention: The prerequisite is that the vehicle and owner remain the same. Evidence and documents may need to be submitted.
If both the vehicle and the licence plate change, the only option is to let the existing vignette expire and register a new vignette.
You can make the change as follows:
If your vehicle is registered in Switzerland:
- Visit the website https://www.vintrica.com/de-CH/auftrag/suchen/ and retrieve your order. To do this, enter the registration country (Switzerland), your licence plate and the email address you used when ordering. Then click "Search order".
- If your order includes multiple vignettes, you will now receive a list of all vignettes. Select the appropriate vignette you wish to change. If your order contains only one vignette, you will be taken directly to the order details of your vignette.
- Click the "🖊️ Change" button. You can now change your licence plate. Please make sure to enter it correctly, as a change is only possible once. The change must be justified by selecting the appropriate option.
- Click "🖊️ Confirm change" to save the entries. This process may take a few minutes. Keep the browser window open during this time. You will then receive a success message.
If your vehicle is not registered in Switzerland:
The change of the E-vignette must be requested from the Swiss motorway operator. Documents and evidence that the vehicle and owner remain the same must be submitted. Processing the request by the Swiss motorway operator may take several days. Please apply for the change well in advance of your trip, as the change only takes effect once approved by the motorway operator.

After you have applied for the change with the motorway operator, please remember to deactivate any existing subscriptions ("automatic renewal") for your old vignette at vintrica. vintrica is not informed by the motorway operator about the licence plate change, so the changes are not transferred to the vintrica system.
